The lean, by market and month

Right, wrong and flat, market by market.

Each row counts the daily closes where whales leaned one way in that market, and what the price did by the next close. A split close makes no call.

How to read this

Shows: For each market, the daily closes where the Whale Tide leaned long or short, and whether the price moved that way by the next close.

Read it: Right share is right over right and wrong. Read it against the base rate: when the price rose on 60% of the days, a lean that was always long was right about as often.

Won’t show: why the price moved, or how a single whale did. A lean is the whale money of one market at the close, weighted by track record, not one trade.

About the data: A move within 0.1% of the price at the close is flat and counts as neither. Fewer than 10 right or wrong closes show their counts without a share.

The Whale Tide

After a whale move

After opening or adding, whales were right on 50% of moves.

Every move on a position of $1M or more, the moves a free alert reports. It is right when the price moved its way by the first daily close at least 24 hours later. A cut or a close is right when the price moved against the side it left.

How to read this

Shows: Each whale move on a position of $1M or more, and whether the price moved its way by the first daily close at least 24 hours later.

Read it: Money in is an open, an add or a flip, which bets on its side. Money out is a cut or a close, which is right when the price then moved against the side it left. Longs and shorts apart show the market’s drift: when prices fell, shorts look right and longs wrong.

Won’t show: whether the whale made money on the move, which depends on its entry and its exit. A move can hedge a position held elsewhere. A liquidation is forced and is not scored.

Some whales do and many do not. Each tracked wallet counts once, with every position of $100K or more it closed in the window, summed before fees and funding.

How to read this

Shows: Every tracked whale that closed at least one position of $100K or more in the window, by the sum of its realised results.

Read it: The figure is the share that ended in profit. The bars count whales by how much they made or lost: filled bars in profit, hollow bars at a loss. The median is the result in the middle.

Won’t show: fees, funding or what a wallet still holds open, and traders outside the largest wallets. Wallets that lost and stopped trading leave the list, so the share in profit can read high.

Questions

About the scorecard.

Are whales usually right?

Often not. Over the last 30 daily closes, the price moved the way whales leaned by the next close on 56% of the market days that moved, 533 times against 414. After whales opened or added a position of $1M or more, the price moved their way 50% of the time. The scorecard shows every market and month, misses included.

Can you make money on Hyperliquid?

Some do, many do not. Of the 699 tracked whales that closed a position in the last 90 days, 387 ended in profit and 310 at a loss, before fees and funding. 86 were liquidated at least once. Those are the largest wallets on Hyperliquid, not every trader, and past results are no promise.

What counts as right?

A lean is right when the market’s price moved its way by more than 0.1% by the next daily close, and wrong when it moved the other way by more. A move within 0.1% is flat and counts as neither. A whale move is judged at the first daily close at least 24 hours after it, a cut or a close against the side it left.

Why compare with how often the price rose?

Because a market that rose on most days makes a long lean look right most of the time. A lean says something only where it beats that base rate. The table shows both side by side.

Does the scorecard tell me what to trade?

No. It counts what happened after past leans and moves. Whales can be early, hedged elsewhere or wrong. Not financial advice.

How to read this page

Right
The price moved the way whales leaned, by more than 0.1%, by the next daily close.
Wrong
The price moved the other way by more than 0.1%.
Flat
The price stayed within 0.1%. It counts in the sample, not as right or wrong.
Price rose
How often the price rose over the same closes, whatever whales did. A lean is worth as much as it beats this.
